Upgrading OCS locks in stages: one change room at a time

Large facilities and multi-site operators often have hundreds of earlier Ojmar OCS keypad locks. Replacing them all at once is not always practical, and it does not need to be.

Why staging works

The Ojmar OCS 30 has the same footprint as earlier OCS models. Each stage is a lock swap on the existing doors, with no new joinery or cabling, so there is no reason to do everything in one go.

Common ways to stage

  • By change room: start with the busiest, or the one being refurbished first
  • By floor: useful in office buildings with staff lockers on several levels
  • By locker bank: start with the lockers that see the most use
  • By site: for networks of gyms or offices, start with one site and roll out from there

Planning the order

We look at locker usage, refurbishment plans and budget timing, then set out an order that keeps the facility running throughout. Each stage gets the same setup and handover, so staff are not managing two very different systems for long.

Mixed systems in the meantime

While the upgrade is underway, earlier OCS locks and OCS 30 locks can sit in different areas of the same facility. We help staff understand both and keep the earlier locks running until their turn comes.

Budgeting

Staging spreads the cost across financial years and lets you see the result in one area before committing to the rest. We can quote the whole facility with stage-by-stage pricing.
