Mechanical or electronic? Choosing between Ojmar's keyless locks
Most facilities moving away from keys have the same first question: should the new lock be mechanical or electronic? Both have a place, and Ojmar makes good options on each side.
Mechanical combination locks
The OMS Combi (for lockers) and the OMS 8002 (for cabinets, pedestals and lockers) use a 4-digit code with no batteries and no electronics.
They suit facilities that want:
- No battery changes at all
- A simple code for users
- Wet-area performance (the OMS Combi is IP65 rated)
Electronic keypad locks
The OGS 10 is a compact keypad camlock with a 4 to 6 digit PIN, running up to 6 years on two coin batteries. The OCS 30 (Smart) is a full locker lock with a touch keypad and optional smartphone access over Bluetooth.
Electronic keypads add:
- Master codes for staff
- Automatic opening at set times (OCS 30)
- Rental mode for paid lockers (OCS 30)
- Management apps (OCS 30)
RFID and phone
If users already carry a card, wristband or fob, an RFID lock such as the OTS 20 (Advance) lets that same credential open their locker. For online management and booking, the OTS 40 (Pulse) connects lockers to Ojmar Cloud.
A quick way to decide
- Users bring a padlock: OMS Hasp
- A code with no batteries: OMS Combi or OMS 8002
- A keypad PIN: OGS 10 or OCS 30
- A keypad or a smartphone: OCS 30 (Smart)
- The card they already carry: OTS 10 or OTS 20
- Online management and booking: OTS 40 (Pulse)
- No batteries at all, human-powered: OTS 20 Batteryless or OTS 40 Batteryless
