Battery life across the Ojmar range, and the locks that need none
Battery changes are one of the main ongoing tasks for any facility with electronic locker locks. Here is how the Ojmar locks we carry compare, based on Ojmar's figures.
No batteries
- OMS Hasp: mechanical, users bring a padlock
- UNO: keyed office furniture locks
- OMS 8002: mechanical combination camlock
- OMS Combi: mechanical combination locker lock
- OTS 20 Batteryless: human-powered RFID lock
- OTS 40 Batteryless: human-powered smart lock with Ojmar Cloud
Battery-powered
- OGS 10: up to 6 years or 10,000 cycles on 2 × CR2032 batteries
- OCS 30 (Smart): up to 5 years on 4 AA batteries, with a low-battery warning
- OTS 10 (Basic): up to 10 years on 4 AA batteries
- OTS 20 (Advance): up to 10 years on 4 AA batteries
- OTS 40 (Pulse): up to 8 years on 4 AA batteries
Actual battery life depends on how often each lock is used.
Making battery changes easy
The OCS 30 gives a low-battery warning in advance, keeps its configuration through a battery change and can be powered from the front if a battery does run flat. Standard AA batteries are easy to source.
Planning ahead
For large facilities, it is worth recording installation dates and planning battery changes by locker bank before warnings appear, rather than reacting one lock at a time. We can help set up that schedule, or take care of it as part of a service arrangement.
Removing the task altogether
If battery changes are a real burden, or the building has sustainability targets, the human-powered OTS 20 Batteryless and OTS 40 Batteryless remove batteries from the locker entirely.
